Registration for 9th grade is being held at the
1617 Caffin Avenue location.

1st Freshmen Class in the Lower 9th Ward

Beginning August, 2008 we will launch a website exclusively for the class of 2012!

Our mission is to create and maintain an orderly, trusting environment where teaching and learning are innovative and exciting; where students are taught to read, write, compute, and think critically according to their fullest potential.

Welcome to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Charter School for Science and Technology. Our school is proud of the relationship betweeen the students, parents and teachers. We are dedicated to working together for the success of all students. We are a learning community of about 570 students, rich in diversity and culture. We are striving everyday to meeting and exceeding the standards and helping our students become respectful and responsible citizens.

Parents are required to attend orientation. Pertinent information will be discussed. Lunch applications, P.E. uniforms and transportation forms will be available.

Back to School Orientation is not designed to discuss individual needs. Parents will be allowed to make an appointment to discuss concerns.

Kindergarten -5^th grade Parent Orientation 4:00 pm- 6:30 pm

July 29

Pre- Kindergarten Parent Orientation 4:00 pm- 6:30 pm

July 30

9^th Grade Parent Orientation 4:00 pm- 6:30 pm

July 31

6^th- 8^th Grade Parent Orientation 4:00 pm- 6:30 pm

August 11

1^st day of school for students

School Supply list may be obtained in the office between 8:00 am- 2:30 pm.

The school day begins at 8:00 A.M.
The school day ends at 2:30 P.M.

We are thankful for the computers donated by the TOYOTA Corporation.

"Dr. King Charter School is honored to have Toyota make such an important donation to the school. The school plans to utilize these computers to enhance its educational component. Students in grades 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th will be able to utilize these computers on a daily basis and we are very appreciative to have been selected." said Doris Hicks, CEO and Principal of the school.
